Small Group FAQ

What is an integration session?

Integration involves working through the emotions and insights from your ketamine experience, and translating them into actionable steps towards your intention for treatment. Each treatment includes two separate integration sessions, ideally scheduled 1-4 days and 2-3 weeks after your treatment session.

Integration is crucial with ketamine therapy because the medicine opens a window for healing, but lasting change happens when insights are processed and applied in daily life. Without integration, the benefits can fade, while with it, experiences become grounded, meaningful, and transformative. This is a core part of our philosophy at Medicine Within.

Which appointments are held in a group setting?

The preparation consult and medicine sessions take place in a group setting. Your intake and integration sessions are always held one-on-one with your provider to ensure your personal medical information and concerns remain private. During group appointments, you are invited to share only what feels comfortable—how much or how little is always up to you.

Where are these group treatment sessions held?

Our treatment sessions are held in-person at our peaceful workspace in SE Bend just outside of town. Details about the exact location are shared after you schedule with us. You will need to arrange a ride to and from your treatment session as you cannot drive after taking ketamine. All other appointments (including the intake, preparation consult, and both integration sessions) are conducted virtually for your convenience.

What are small group treatment sessions like?

With physician-led support before and after treatment, we ensure patients are well-prepared for their journey and have the space to integrate their experience afterward. Our goal is to create a safe, deeply supportive group setting where patients can relax, feel held, and connect with others. Preparation consults foster familiarity—both with the group and with the process itself—so participants enter the session with greater ease and confidence.

Sessions take place in our spacious treatment facility in SE Bend, where each patient has their own bed or reclining leather chair, allowing plenty of room to rest comfortably. During the ketamine experience, patients wear light-blocking eye shades and noise-cancelling headphones, supporting an inward, private journey. There is no verbal processing or therapy during this time, as ketamine naturally encourages stillness and deep internal exploration. We provide carefully curated, ketamine-specific playlists to help guide the experience, while two physicians remain on-site throughout the session to ensure safety, comfort, and support.

Groups are ideal for those seeking a community-based healing experience, and who appreciate a reduced cost of treatment by sharing it with others.

When are small group treatment sessions scheduled?

We host group treatment sessions every other Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our preparation consults are scheduled on the Wednesday preceding the Friday treatment session from 12:00 - 1:30 pm.

For the best and longest lasting results, treatments with ketamine are typically done in a short series of 3-5 treatments, spaced out every 2 weeks. Our groups are scheduled to accommodate this ideal timing.

How do I go about joining a small group treatment session?

First, schedule your free intro call by going to the Start Here section of our website. If you are a candidate for treatment, we will get you scheduled and help you join a group.

Does insurance cover the cost of group treatment? How much does it cost?

Insurance may reimburse you for your intake and integration sessions if you have out-of-network (OON) coverage for naturopathic care. We’ll provide you with a superbill to submit for reimbursement, but we do not bill insurance directly (except for Enthea members). Please note that group appointments—including the preparation consult and medicine sessions—are not covered by insurance. Pricing is reviewed during your free introductory call, and more details are also available in the video on our Start Here page.
